Actress Rita Bhaduri Dies

Veteran actress Rita Bhaduri passed away on Tuesday morning after suffering from a serious kidney ailment for which she had been admitted to ICU for many days. She was 62.

Raazi actor Shishir Sharma shared the sad news of her death by posting about the same on his Facebook account.

Sharma wrote, “We deeply regret to inform you that Reeta Bhaduri has departed for her journey beyond. The funeral rites will be held on 17th July, Tuesday at 12 noon at the Cremation Ground, Parsi Wada Road, Parshiwada, Chakala, Andheri East. Extremely sad.. lost a wonderful human being .. a mother to many of us.. will miss u Ma…”

Bhaduri's career in the entertainment spanned for over three decades.

Rita initially appeared as a supporting actress in various Bollywood films during the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. She has been a part of renowned films like Sawan Ko Aane Do in 1979 Rajshri Productions film, and Raja (1995) for which she received a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She had a supporting role as Julie's best friend in the film Julie (1975), where the song "Yeh Ratien Nayi Purani" was picturized on her.

She has acted in many other movies like Beta, Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, and close to 30 TV shows including 'Sarabhai vs Sarabhai,' 'Choti Bahu,' 'Kumkum,' 'Khichdi' and many others.

Despite not belonging to the Gujarati origin, she was always associated with the Gujarati Film Industry and was considered to be one of the exceptionally successful actresses there.

She was last seen as Imarti Devi in the TV show 'Nimki Mukhiya'. Bhaduri was a part of the 1973 batch of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

After the news of the demise of the veteran actor broke out, the television industry expressed their condolences on social media. Actor Vivek Dahiya tweeted, “Woke up to this news! A brilliant actress and a quintessential mother on screen. Saddened and at loss of words! #RIP #RitaBadhuri.”
