"Do Not Get Complacent In Any Manner": Actor Nagma Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Nagma COVID-19 positive: Actor and politician Nagma Morarji, better known by just her first name, has tested positive for the coronavirus. She took to social media to inform that her diagnosis comes days after she took the first vaccine dose. As per her announcement, she has quarantined herself at home.

"All Please take care and take al necessary precautions even after taking the 1st dose of Vaccine do not get complacent in anyway manner #staysafe !" she appealed to netizens. 

Colleagues from the industry wished her well for a speedy recovery. Actor Soni Razdan, whose daughter Alia Bhatt recently tested COVID-19 positive, wrote, "Nagma please take care and take one more test. If you don’t have symptoms it could be a false positive. If you do have symptoms hope they’re mild."

Actor Anju Mahendroo wrote, "Nagma baby take care !!! Hope Seema is with you," referring to Nagma's mother.

Making her film debut in 1990 with Baaghi opposite Salman Khan, Nagma remained a prominent figure in the industry through the decade. Her success spanned across languages, with work including but not limited to Telugu, Punjabi, Marathi, Bhojpuri films.

She stepped into politics in 2014, joining the Indian National Congress. She has previously been fielded as a party candidate for Lok Sabha elections.

As per a social media post she made earlier this month, the politician had received her first vaccine jab on April 3. She said she identified some post-vaccine effects, including, "running temperature, having headache cold and cough , eyes r burning at the moment." Doctors are advising regular safety precautions after first vaccine doses since the shield only takes full effect after the second dose.

News of the Mumbai-based actor contracting COVID-19 comes amid Maharashtra facing a deadly second wave of the virus. On Wednesday, the state recorded 59,907 fresh cases as per official figures taking the count of active cases to 5,01,559 and total deaths to 56,652.
