Jiah Khan Death: In A Break 8 Years Later, CBI Court To Hear Pending Case

In the death case of Bollywood actor Jiah Khan pending for the last eight years, a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court is reportedly set to hear the matter.

An up-and-coming film actor, 25-year-old Khan was found dead at her Juhu residence in June 2013. While her mother alleges her death was a murder, naming Khan's last boyfriend and actor Sooraj Pancholi, a CBI investigation in 2016 confirmed she had died by suicide, hanging herself from the ceiling. — ANI (@ANI) July 30, 2021 from ANI on Friday, the sessions court in Mumbai that was conducting trial against Pancholi in charges related to abetment to suicide since 2018, has asked for redirecting the case to a CBI court.

"Jiah would never take her life, and she was killed beyond a reasonable doubt," her mother said following the transfer of the case.

A Re-Look At The Jiah Khan Death Case

Khan's death eight years ago had rocked the film industry, the circumstances at the time adding mystery to the incident. In the days following her demise, Khan's sister reportedly found a handwritten suicide note purportedly addressed to Pancholi. Her mother Rabia had released the six-page note in the media.

"You never appreciated my love, Kicked me in the face. I have no confidence or self esteem left, whatever talent whatever ambition you took it all away. You destroyed my life... All I want now is to go to sleep and never wake up again," a part of the letter read, as published in The Times of India. 

In the week after Khan's death, Pancholi was taken in police custody and released a month later. Investigations in 2013 and by the CBI in 2016 concluded Khan's death was suicide by hanging. An independent investigation pursued by Rabia with foreign officials reportedly turned up claims there was indication of foul play in Khan's death.

Early this year in January, a BBC documentary Death in Bollywood on incidents leading up to and surrounding Khan's death highlighted explosive allegations of sexual harassment the late actor faced in the film industry.
