“Devi is a widow and used to live alone. Around 7 am, her neighbours saw her collecting milk from her doorstep. An hour later, when her colleagues called her, she didn’t respond after which they informed her brother Sharma. When he reached the spot, the police was informed too,” said Anand Shrivastava, commissioner of police (CP), Jaipur city.

The police commissioner also said that the woman was found with her hands and legs tied to a railing with a shawl. The post-mortem report is yet to come out, but police suspect that she was strangulated. Moreover, all the belongings in her house were left intact and there were no visible signs of struggle, so this indicates that she was murdered by someone she knew.

A team of 50 policemen are currently investigating the woman's death. At the moment, her neighbours and people from her entire residence are being interrogated. CCTV footages are also being inspected. The deceased woman's phone is also being scanned for potential clues.
