Report: 10,000 Children Killed In Nearly 100 Days In Gaza Amidst War (Image: File Image).

A report published by Save The Children suggests that the daily death toll in Gaza shattered records of dewar deaths of the 21st century as around 10,000 children have been killed within 100 days. The report also believes that thousands of more children are still missing, presumed buried under the rubbles of destruction. The report states that a huge population of children has been wiped off as the operations by the Israeli Military Force (IMF) persist.

The data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza depicts that on average, a hundred children have been killed every day in Gaza since the attack on Israel by Hamas militants on October 7. On January 14, the war completed 100 days. The report says one grave violation against children is one too many stating 370 schools have been destroyed and damaged (UNESCO) while 94 hospital and healthcare facilities have been ignored (WHO).

Plights Of Gaza Children In War

Children in Gaza are surviving the unspeakable horrors of war enduring life-changing injuries, disease, burns, inadequate medical or even necessary care and attention, and losing both their parents or loved ones in the terrors of the war. Facing the terrors by repeatedly asking to flee the violent grounds with no place to go, children are living in the trepidation of an uncertain future.

Reports also suggested that about 1000 children affected by the war in Gaza have lost one or both their legs with many having their limbs amputated without even anaesthesia and will require a lifetime of medical care. An 11-year-old girl in Rafah in the south of Gaza told the press, "The war has affected us so badly. We had to leave our homes and couldn't do anything. We learned many things during the war, like how important it is to save water.  I hope the war ends, and we live in peace and safety."

Around 1.1 million children in Gaza (almost the complete population of children) have been reported to have been denied humanitarian access. Save the Children’s Country Director for the occupied Palestinian territory, Jason Lee said, "For every day without a definitive ceasefire, 100 children on average have been killed. There can never be any justification for killing children. The situation in Gaza is monstrous and a blight on our common humanity."

Lee also stated that the surviving children are at risk of being killed either by starvation or by the famine coming closer if the crisis persists. The surviving children faced the mental harm inflicted by the war and the utter devastation of schools, homes, hospitals and other infrastructure has annihilated their future.

Lee, like many other international bodies, opined that every party in the war must agree to cease fire immediately looking at the ongoing devastation it is causing and the plights of thousands affected by the war.
