A Kerala-based start-up that was receiving loan paperwork from bank staff took an intriguing turn of events and did something completely out of the ordinary. To receive the documents, they sent a robot dressed in a saree. Additionally, a video of the incident was posted online, which surprised people.

The video was shared by Ananth Rupanagudi, the railway bureaucrat.  “Federal Bank, Kochi branch sanctioned loan to robots manufacturing company. The company personnel brought a robot to receive the loan sanction letter,” he captioned the video.

The robot can be seen wearing a saree in the video. The robot addressed everyone present at the bank.  “Hi everyone, I am so happy to meet everyone today at Ernakulam press club. I wish you all a very happy Onam in advance,” the robot greeted everyone and gave a small speech.

The loan, which was approved on September 7, was intended for the healthcare sector, where Sayabot can provide services like contactless dispensing, vitals monitoring, post-surgery care, notifying, and surveillance, among others. Federal Bank, based in Kochi, has also been aiming to quickly adopt technology.

KARMI-Bot, another Asimov Robotics model, had been put at a hospital in Kochi in April 2020 for patient care and cleaning during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to The Hindu.
