50-year-old Naomi Campbell has spoken about wanting to have children in the past. In 2017, she told the Evening Standard Magazine that “I think about having children all the time”. The next year, she told Vogue Arabia “I’d love to have kids... I love kids and always will.”

In her Instagram post, Campbell said that she was “so honoured to have this gentle soul in my life”. Celebrities like actors Zoe Saldana and Sophie Turner, fashion designer Marc Jacobs, and talk show host Andy Cohen congratulated Campbell for the birth of her daughter.

Naomi Campbell’s career began at the age of six when she appeared in the music video for Is This Love by Bob Marley. At the age of fifteen, she appeared on the cover of British Elle.

In 1987, Campbell appeared on the cover of British Vogue. She was the first black woman to appear as a cover girl since 1966. In 1988, she became the first black model to appear on the cover of French Vogue, and the next year she appeared on the cover of American Vogue on a September issue. The September issue is usually the biggest and most important issue of the year, and it marked the first time a black model was on the cover of a September magazine.

Naomi Campbell has spoken openly about the racial bias in the fashion industry. In 2013, she joined models Iman and Bethann Hardison in an advocacy group named “Diversity Coalition”. The group wrote an open letter to the governing bodies of global fashion weeks, and listed designers that only one or no models of colour in the fall shows of 2013.
