Sasha Banks on mental health: WWE world champion Sasha Banks opened up about her mental health issues and said that she was dealing with depression. Five-time RAW Women's Champion Banks revealed that her mind and her thoughts were taking over and she had felt lost after not hearing her real name for almost seven years.

Mercedes Kaestner-Varnado, popularly known as Sasha Banks as her ring name,  is an American professional wrestler and actor currently signed to WWE as a member of the SmackDown Women's Champion in her first reign.

In a recent sneak peek of an upcoming episode of Stone Cold Steve Austin's Broken Skull Sessions, Banks revealed why she took a four-month-break from WWE before she returned to the company.

Banks said that she was dealing with depression. She revealed that she lost herself as she didn't hear her real name 'Mercedes' for seven long years. "I didn't hear Mercedes anymore. All I heard was Sasha Banks," she said. Adding, "When I'm home, I'm not even seeing what my real hair looks like. All I see is purple hair every single day. There were so many things that I let it control me . . . I was looking in the mirror, and I was looking in my eyes, and I lost all the light in it. I couldn't even look at myself, I didn't even know who the hell I was. How I was going into work, how angry I was, how sad I was."

Banks further revealed that this was not the person she dreamt to be, and she was just making sure to hold herself together during this time.

Sasha Banks has been wrestling for WWE for over eight years and has established her name as one of the most popular figures in the history of wrestling. Besides her countless achievements during her career, Banks set a new height for herself as she was called the 2020 Wrestler of the Year by Sports Illustrated.
