For Harvard Conference, Nita Ambani Revives A Heirloom Parsi Gara Saree

Nita Ambani’s recent visit to Harvard turned heads, not just for her presence but also for her elegant choice of attire. Ambani, known for her appreciation of traditional Indian textiles, wore a striking Parsi Gara saree that highlighted fine craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

Renowned designer Manish Malhotra shared that Ambani’s deep blue saree was an heirloom piece, carefully revived by saree expert Zenobia S. Davar. The saree showcased intricate embroidery with delicate, hand-stitched floral patterns in striking red and blue shades. The saree’s detailed craftsmanship was complemented by a finely designed blouse from Malhotra's label.

Taking to Instagram, the designer reflected on the experience of curating such ensembles, stating, "Conceptualising concepts to styling timeless looks with Nita and us discussing handlooms to archival embroidery are precious and cherished moments."

The Parsi Gara saree is deeply rooted in the Parsi community’s traditions and is often reserved for weddings and grand occasions. The embroidery process is highly detailed and time-consuming, sometimes taking anywhere from three weeks to two months to complete. A team of skilled artisans works meticulously to bring the designs to life.

To complete her look, Nita Ambani paired the saree with a custom-designed blouse by Manish Malhotra. Speaking about the ensemble, the designer said, “This ensemble bridges the rich tapestry of cultural heritage with modern styling… The process of conceptualizing archival embroideries and discussing handlooms with Nita is always a cherished experience.”

Her jewelry selection further enhanced the elegance of the outfit. She wore diamond studs, a three-layered pearl necklace, a pearl-and-diamond bracelet, and a statement ring, adding a touch of grandeur to her overall look.

For her makeup, Nita Ambani opted for a polished yet understated look. She chose darkened brows, a blue bindi, pink lips, kohl-rimmed eyes, mascara-coated lashes, muted pink eyeshadow, blushed cheeks, and a luminous highlighter, adding a soft glow to her appearance.
