Elle Fanning rocks a book bag charm at New York Fashion Week
Books, now have a more fun use, converted to one-third of their original shape, it is used as a charm on bags. The new wave has started since it was first seen in the Coach SS26 show at New York Fashion Week. On its launch day, the miniature literature is gaining the gaze of people around the globe.
It was first spotted on Elle Fanning, the star famous for her work in Sentimental Value, seated in the front row carrying Jane Austen's classic Sense & Sensibility, 1811, on her Tabby bag. She was later spotted reading the same on her way back in a subway.
Why are Charms back in Trend?
Now, charms are one of the most noticeable parts of a bag. At events like New York Fashion Week, bags are rarely plain. They are covered with mini objects like toys, ribbons, beads, and even tiny books. Brands such as Coach have made charms a clear part of their styling. Charms reflect something bigger happening in fashion.
People want to customise their outfit, add a personal touch and feel in control of themselves. Now, more people, especially in the film and entertainment industry, hook onto something which reflects them; they are somewhat bored with the same styling done by a number of stylists to almost every other actor or media influencer.
More Than Decoration
In a space where many people carry similar bags from the same brands, charms create a difference. They shift attention from price and label to personality and taste. Bag charms are no longer just small objects added for fun; they have become quiet signals of identity.
Is the new charm special?
From the time Elle Fanning was spotted with the tiny version of Jane Austen's book, it has become a buzz in the fashion industry. Stylists are trying to accommodate this new piece in their style quotient, while many others might feel that this is not that big of a deal, and definitely individual choices vary according to their understanding of fashion, again, because fashion is dynamic and ever evolving.
What do you think about this? Are you carrying this new miniature book charm on your next outdoor visit?
