Stop Looking For The One

If you're going into every date, hoping to find the right person then that's a lot of pressure. An easy way to let yourself (and the other person!) relax is by taking some of that pressure off. Think of dating as just any social activity. Maybe think of it as some sort of social club. Once you convince yourself that dating is just a way for you to meet more like-minded people, you're going to stop being as nervous about every date, which ultimately, will make you more confident. And besides, if you don't hit it off romantically, at least you've got a new friend.

Nobody's perfect, so if your ideal partner looks like a television actor, only has endearing quirks for flaws and shares the same opinions about you on everything, then you're probably not going to find that person.

Be Interested In The World

Everyone dreads that awkward silence when you're on a date and neither of you knows what to say next. The situation is quite frankly unavoidable but if you find yourself struggling to make conversation, there are ways to get better. Read about things - anything and everything! If there's a trending New York Times article, maybe give it a look. Spare a glance at the news. Most importantly, be interested in things. Know what you like, have opinions and don't be afraid to share them. A person who is passionate about things is often a much better conversationalist than others.

Broaden Your Horizons While Dating

Nobody's perfect, so if your ideal partner looks like a television actor, only has endearing quirks for flaws and shares the same opinions about you on everything, then you're probably not going to find that person. Hannah Orenstein, a matchmaker at Tawkify says, “I think one of the biggest problems people have is that they build up this dream checklist in their head.”  And that checklist stops you from seeing the other qualities in the person sitting across from you.

Bad Dates Aren't The End

If every bad date feels like the end of the world and you come home feeling miserable, then dating is not going to be as fun as it's supposed to be. Keep it light! You're about to meet a stranger, and more often than not, you won't be into them. Accept that there will be more bad dates than good ones and laugh about them. Look forward to an activity you can come home and do, or if the day isn't over, maybe treat yourself - alone or with a good friend. There will always be the next date.
