Looking back, we all have a blurry memory of a totally different Kangana Ranaut. A woman who called out the prevalent nepotism in Hindi film industry publically named her abuser and helped in initiating a conversation on various issues that the show business is cursed with. It is difficult to think of Kangana Ranaut as that woman anymore. The year 2020, brought about the greatest disaster of our times and Ranaut's Twitter account this year managed to give it a  tough competition.  Here's looking at one of the many debacles in 2020, Kangana Ranaut:

Et, tu bigot?

When the protest against the controversial law CAA-NRC broke in the country and students all around the country stood united against the law, Kangana Ranaut told RepublicTv, "I think CAA and NRC is an incredible move. The way empathy is shown towards the minority, it is a good example of Humanity. Our government has just fulfilled its promise made to us. Nothing is done out of the blue. Their manifesto has this main claim about issues such as Article 370, NRC, etc. the country is eagerly waiting for it. Whoever has done this job must be appreciated. I really want to congratulate the government to pull it through amid the ongoing protests." She also said that protests and strikes are pre-independence things.

When she wanted India's own social media platform

Rangoli Chandel, known as Kangana Ranaut's younger sister and her infamous spokesperson, grabbed headlines when she very passionately wanted to be remembered as a Nazi. Chandel in a Tweet, now removed, talked about shooting "mullahs and secular media". Kangana Ranaut like the very loving sister came in support of Rangoli and bashed Twitter for suspending Rangoli's Twitter account. She said, "I know the nation is going through a lot right now but we have to find a way to completely demolish these (social media)platforms and start our own platforms." Real nationalist.

Her 'sensitive' take on mental health

No matter how inconsequential but at least Sushant Singh Rajput's death started a conversation on mental health on social media platforms. Thanks to Kangana Ranaut for enlightening us with her utterly unscientific take, the discourse on mental health went almost five steps back. In a tweet targeting Deepika Padukone, who has been open about her struggles with depression, Ranaut said, " Repeat after me, depression is a consequence of drug abuse. So-called high society rich star children who claim to be classy and have a good upbringing ask their manager,"MAAL HAI KYA?” #boycottBollywoodDruggies #DeepikaPadukone (sic)." Can we not repeat after her, please?

On another such occasion she mocked artist Priyanka Paul. Read about that story here.

 Real (not) feminist

Her exact words at a media conclave, " The term is feminism is misused. I don't go by the book definition of feminism. I made my own definition. But why should there be equality related to someone's sex? Why can't we have our own definitions? With time, definitions needs to evolve" She really defined feminism by being a true ally to her female co-workers when she called them B-Grade stars. By her own definition, calling Urmila Matondkar a "soft-porn" star was just the right thing to do. She didn't even hold back when media had already ruined Rhea Chakraborty when she called her a 'small-time gold-digger'.

Such hypocrisy much disappointment

Turns out, Kangana Ranaut forgot to erase her past just like all of us. In an attempt to name and shame Anna Vetticad, a film critic, Kangana's team released short clip of the video where it can be assumed that she is being insulted by Vetticad. In reply to that, Anna Vetticad released the whole interview and quite frankly it must have brought huge embarrassment to Kangana Ranaut. The interview clip from 2010 showed Kangana Ranaut making statements completely opposite of her current anti-nepotistic stance. In the video, Ranaut said that she belongs to an equally privileged background like the star kids and their quota doesn’t bother her. Kangana's supporters dived in and started calling Vetticad problematic slurs used for Christian converts. Did Kangana come in her support? No.

Farmers or terrorists?

When most great minds of India are saying that the farmer's bill will only damage India's agricultural base, Kangana Ranaut came up with terrorist angle in this too. Attacking the farmers protesting against the new bill Ranaut said, " the same terrorists who indulged in bloodshed even as no citizen lost citizenship due to CAA”. She shared meme's showcasing protesting farmers as 'Khalistanis'. One could not see a possible way to outdo Kangana in bigotry maybe that's why she outdid herself when she said that the 82-year-old woman known as Bilkis Dadi, " is available for 100 rupees." Although it was later revealed that the old-woman Kangana identified as Bilkis Dadi, a woman leading the protests at Shaheen Bagh, was actually Mohinder Kaur. Crazy turn of events.

As we wait for the COVID-19 vaccine, we also hope that Kangana Ranaut's Twitter account lets us live in peace.
