Wonder Woman 1984 Releases On December 24 In India – Here’s What You Need To Know

Wonder Woman India Release

Warner Bros. India announced the release of the upcoming DC movie Wonder Woman 1984 across theatres in India on December 24. The advance booking of the movie has already started on various platforms like BookMyShow and the official websites of PVR, Inox and other premier multiplexes.

After Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, this is the second big-budget Hollywood movie releasing in theatres across India after lockdown. The movie will release in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

The upcoming movie is the sequel of 2017’s Wonder Woman and the ninth instalment of the DC Extended Universe. Directed by Patty Jenkins, the film stars Gal Gadot as Diana/Wonder Woman. Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen are also a part of the movie cast.

Set in the time of the Cold War, the film will follow the story of Diana, the demigoddess and princess warrior and her former love interest Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine. The movie will show her feud with the businessman Maxwell Lord and friend-turned-foe Barbara Ann Minerva, played by Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig respectively.

Gal Gadot As Wonder Woman

All set to return as the iconic Amazon princess, she has been paid a whooping amount of $10 million dollars for the role. This is 33 times more than what she was paid for the first movie. She was also among the highest-paid female actors in the world last year, according to Forbes, making $34 million.

Gadot made her debut in DC Universe as Wonder Woman in 2016 in the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Later, she then went to play the role solo in Wonder Woman film (2017).

In an interview with Total Film, she spoke about her character in the franchise. “In the first movie, [Diana] really is a fish out of water, coming from Themyscira into man’s world and learning about the complexities of human life, really. Now, in Wonder Woman 1984, she’s been around. She’s wiser and she’s more mature. Also, she’s guarded and lost all of her friends throughout the years. But she’s still doing the right thing, yet she is different from when we last saw her.”

“In the first movie, we really explored the journey of the coming-of-age, of how Diana Prince became Wonder Woman, and owned her full strengths and powers.” she further added.
