This platform is scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of 2023 and will be called Clean OTT. The focus of this platform will be to put out content by women filmmakers, actors, women-driven plotlines and producers under the spotlight.

The announcement was made on March 1 by Anushka Sharma's brother and entrepreneur Karnesh Ssharma. Clean Slate Filmz is known to back women-led films like NH10, Bulbbul and Pari, amongst others. It was under this banner that the critically acclaimed 2020 web series Paatal Lok was produced.

We are confident the Clean OTT narratives will appeal to everyone as we provide a platform free of prejudice: Karnesh Ssharma.

Women-Oriented OTT Platform

Reportedly, the OTT platform will include international and regional projects. It will also include entertainment in various formats like films, web series and docu-series. As per the press release, it is Ssharma's mission with the online platform to curate meaningful stories led by female protagonists and to shift away from the male gaze, in terms of casting and screenplay. The idea is to provide a platform for female professionals.

In a statement, he said, "When the voices of women are heard it teaches us new perspectives which, are as an audience and filmmaker, are just as compelling and interesting. It's stereotypical when I hear people say women's stories are just about oppression or fall into the romantic comedy genre, Female first content is in fact extremely exciting and eclectic."

The subscription model of the streaming platform will be based on an annual package. It will first be launched in India and then the team plans on expanding it to the UK, the US, Canada and the UAE.

"For centuries patriarchy has governed storytelling, and I have always felt men play an equal part in shifting the narrative, conversation, and power shifts," Ssharma added in his statement.
