According to Harshika Poonacha's account, the ordeal unfolded when she and her family went out for dinner at a restaurant on Mosque Road in Frazer Town's Pulikeshi Nagar. Trouble ensued when two men approached their car and initiated an argument, alleging that the vehicle was too large and might collide with them. Despite her husband's attempt to defuse the situation, the situation escalated rapidly, with the men hurling abuses and attempting to physically assault them.

Assault Over Language

Adding to the distressing ordeal, Poonacha revealed that the attackers specifically targeted them for speaking in Kannada. "These guys had a problem because we were talking in Kannada," she wrote. "It agitated them more when my husband and I spoke only in Kannada. They said, Keep your 'Kannada style' to yourself." The incident escalated further as the assailants attempted to snatch her husband's gold chain, prompting fear and panic among the family members.

Despite seeking assistance from law enforcement officials, Poonacha expressed frustration over the lack of immediate action. She noted that while she contacted an inspector she knew, the response was inadequate, and efforts to enlist the help of an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) from a nearby police station proved futile. "He did not seem keen to help," she wrote, highlighting the disappointing response from authorities in addressing the situation.

Actor Questionions Safety, Seeking Action

The harrowing encounter left Poonacha questioning the safety of residents in Bengaluru, a city she grew up in. Expressing her dismay, she asked, "Are we living in PAKISTAN or AFGHANISTAN? Is it wrong to use my language, Kannada, and get abused for it in my own city?" The incident, which left her feeling scared and vulnerable, prompted Poonacha to call upon Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Karnataka State Police Department to intervene and take appropriate action.
