Who is Anupama Parameswaran: The popular South Indian actor and star of films like Premam and Sathamanam Bhavati is making headlines for rumours linking her to cricketer Jasprit Bumrah. Buzz on the block claims that the two are soon to tie the knot. The reality, however, seems to be something else entirely.

Bumrah's decision last month to step back from the Indian team's test against England "owing to personal reasons" had raised eyebrows. Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) had issued a statement in February saying, "he made a request to BCCI to be released from India’s squad."

When Parameswaran recently shared an Instagram story about checking into a hotel in Dwarka, Gujarat - the state Bumrah is based in - it sparked wide social media speculation about the couple's marriage, especially in light of the cricketer's release from the test.

Speaking to Manorama, Sunitha Parameswaran has cleared the air on the rumours saying none of it is true. "There were many stories linking Anupama and Bumrah earlier too. I think these stories were created by those who didn't like them following on Instagram... We take such rumours as mere jokes."

Although Parameswaran had earlier claimed she didn't know Bumrah, her mother says the two share a friendship and that her husband has met him too.

Meanwhile, Bumrah is also being linked to Sanjana Ganesan, cricket host and presenter for Star Sports India. She is a known face on television, having presented for IPL and ICC Cricket World Cup. She is a model and has previously appeared in MTV reality show Splitsvilla.
