When Is Mrunal Thakur And Shahid Kapoor Starrer Jersey Coming Out?

Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey came out with a new release date. The film had been postponed multiple times before due to a surge in COVID-19 cases across the country. Jersey is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri and presented by Allu Arjun. The main lead of the film includes actor Mrunal Thakur along with Shahid Kapoor.

Jersey was last scheduled for a theatrical release on December 31, 2021, after which it had been postponed due to the rise of COVID-19 cases. Actor Shahid Kapoor posted the announcement of postponement on his social media saying, "In view of the current circumstances and new Covid-19 guidelines, we as a team, feel it is prudent to postpone the release of Jersey. We will see you as soon as we can with our film in 2022."

Jersey Plot:

Jersey follows the story of a talented cricketer in his late 30s who returns to the field in an attempt to fulfill his son's wish and represent the Indian Cricket Team. The film is a remake of a 2019 Telugu-language film by the same name which includes Telugu actors Nani and Shraddha Srinath in the lead roles. The film wrapped up production in December 2020. Director Gowtam Tinnanuri has directed both, the Hindi and Telugu versions of the film.

Jersey New Release Date

The film was scheduled for release on August 28, 2021 and November 5, 2021 before its postponement to December. Now the makers of the film have announced new theatrical release date for Jersey on April 14, 2022. 

Actor Shahid Kapoor will be seen playing the role of 36-year-old cricketer Arjun Talwar along with Mrunal Thakur who will be seen as his wife Vidya Talwar. The sports-drama also features Kapoor's father Pankaj Kapoor in a prominent role of his coach.

Kapoor took to Twitter to share the announcement of Jersey new release date writing, "So so happy to announce that our beloved film #Jersey will be releasing worldwide in theatres on the 14th of April 2022. See you in the theatres."
