Mimi trailer: The trailer of Kriti Sanon starrer Mimi was unveiled on July 13. This Laxman Utekar directorial is all set for an OTT release later this month. Mimi’s trailer promises a Bollywood-style masala take on the 2011 National Award winner Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy! that dealt with surrogacy gone wrong.

Apart from Sanon, Mimi also features actors Pankaj Tripathi, Sai Tamhankar, Supriya Pathak and Manoj Pahwa in key roles. The film is set in a small town of Rajasthan, where a traditional dancer decides to become a surrogate for a foreigner couple, in exchange of 20 lakh rupees. The couple however later decides to not go ahead with the surrogacy and asks Sanon’s character to abort it. She, however, decides to go ahead with the pregnancy and brings the child into into the world.

The film’s lead actor Kriti Sanon shared the trailer of Mimi on Twitter today, writing, ” #Mimi expected everything, except for this unexpected journey! About Mimi

Mimi will mark second collaboration between Laxman Utekar and Sanon after Luka Chuppi. The film’s music has been composed by AR Rahman, while Anuj Rakesh Dhawan has helmed the cinematography. Utekar has also penned the film’s story, screenplay and dialogues, alongside Rohan Shankar, and Samruddhi Porey.

The film was earlier set for a theatrical release, but owing to the restrictions on cinemas due to the COVID-19 pandemic, its makers opted for an OTT release. Mimi will now start streaming from July 30 on Netflix.
