Waheeda Rehman Goes Snorkelling With Daughter, Breaking All Kinds Of Age Barriers

Photos of veteran Hindi film actor Waheeda Rehman snorkelling have surfaced on the internet and they are setting all sorts of goals about women breaking down age barriers. Rehman and her daughter Kashvi Rekhy holidayed in Andaman and Nicobar islands, from where the latter posted the photo of them underwater at Havelock.

“Snorkelling with Mom #waterbabies,” Rekhy wrote. The photo shows the Guide actor, and her daughter, in snorkelling gear with hands held tight and gaze fixed on the camera ahead.

Rehman is spearheading an inspirational collective of other women from the film industry, like Rajini Chandy, who are challenging age norms by trying a hand at things considered ‘divergent’ for women their age, like modelling and fashion clothing.

Rehman, though 83, has evidently not let age come between her passions for photography and sports activities like snorkelling and scuba diving. On her daughter Kashvi’s social media, the yesteryear actor is often seen enjoying travels with a professional camera in hand.

When she first made her interest in and love for wildlife photography known notably in 2019, Rehman was quoted saying, “I am happy that I am pursuing a nice hobby. I was always passionate about photography. I feel you need passion, patience and luck to take the kind of pictures (wildlife pictures) that we have displayed here. I have been taking pictures for a long time but not without learning properly.”

She claims to have travelled across locations known for their photographability, including the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, and African countries Kenya and Tanzania.

The actor is prominent for being a leading lady of Hindi cinema through the 1960s and 70s, and is still counted among the most influential yesteryear actors ever to grace the screen. She is known for her successful collaboration with Guru Dutt on films like CID, Pyaasa and Kaagaz Ke Phool. Her best works also include Khamoshi and Chaudhvin ka Chand.
