The digital rights to the newly released film Virata Parvam were acquired by the streaming giant Netflix. The Telugu-language film Virata Parvam was released in theatres on June 17 and a day after the release it was announced that the digital rights were acquired by Netflix.
Virata Parvam is a period romantic action drama film starring Rana Daggubati and Sai Pallavi in the leading roles. Actors Nandita Das, Priyamani, Naveen Chandra, Easwari Rao, Zarina Wahab, and Sai Chand join them in supporting roles.
Venu Udugala served as the writer and director for the film. D Suresh Babu and Sudhakar Cherukuri produced the film.
Set in 1990s Telangana, the period action drama revolves around the Naxalite movement taking place in that region in that time period.
Writer and director Udugala was inspired by the events he witnessed in his childhood in Warangal, Telangana. The film is loosely based on the life of the 16-year-old girl Sarala from the Warangal district.
She had quit her studies and joined the Peoples War Group and joined the Naxalites. She was killed under mysterious circumstances a month later.
Actor Sai Pallavi will play the role of the character Vennela, the character loosely based on Sarala. Rana Daggubati is seen as Dr Ravi Shankar, alias Comrade Ravana opposite Pallavi's Vennela.
Priyamani was cast as a Naxalite, Comrade Bharathakka. While the story will be inspired and loosely based on true events, the film Virata Parvam will follow a fictional storyline and will contain fictional characters.
Since its release, the action drama film received positive reviews from audiences and netizens. The film grossed Rs 2.5 crore worldwide on the first day of release. Out of the Rs 2.5 crore, Rs 1.5 crore was earned from theatres in Telangana and Andra Pradesh.
Virata Parvam Digital Release
The newly released film Virata Parvam’s digital rights were acquired by the streaming services giant Netflix. The action drama film is reportedly set to release four weeks after the theatrical release, which was June 17.
Virata Parvam is said to be available on the streaming service by the end of July.
