Vidya Balan on Thursday came out in support of Ranveer Singh, who is at the centre of a controversy for his nude photoshoot, saying she could not understand why an FIR has been filed against the actor. “What’s the problem? First time a man has done this. Let us also feast our eyes. (Kya problem hai? Pehli baar koi aadmi kar raha hai. Hum logo ko bhi aankhen sekh lene dijiye na),” Balan told reporters on the sidelines of an event in Mumbai.
Singh is facing an FIR in Mumbai following a complaint from an NGO alleging that he had “hurt the sentiments of women in general and insulted their modesty through his photographs”.

When asked further about a case being filed against the actor, Balan said if someone is offended by the photos, they should not look at them.
“Maybe they (people who filed FIR) don’t have much work to do hence they are wasting their time on these things. If you don’t like it then close the paper or throw it, do what you wish to. Why get into FIR ka chakkar?” the Sherni actor said.

Several Bollywood personalities like Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, Zoya Akhtar, Masaba Gupta, Swara Bhaskar, Richa Chadha and Dia Mirza have come in support of Singh. Designer-actor Masaba Gupta declared it the ‘best cover shot this country has seen’ and praised the actor for his risk-taking abilities.
Singh’s viral photo series for Paper magazine features him nude with well-groomed hair, sitting on a carpet and nonchalantly posing for the camera. The photo shoot is a tribute to ’70s pop icon Burt Reynolds who also went nude in the 1972 shoot for Cosmopolitan.
In his interview with the magazine, where he was dubbed as ‘the last Bollywood superstar’, Singh spoke about baring it all and silently echoing the theme of his photoshoot, “It’s so easy for me to be physically naked, but in some of my performances I’ve been d**n f**king naked. You can see my f**king soul. How naked is that? That’s being actually naked. I can be naked in front of a thousand people, I don’t give a sh*t. It’s just that they get uncomfortable.”
On Thursday, a complaint was filed against the actor before a local court in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur by a social activist.
