Actor Prachi Desai was born 34 years ago on September 12, 1988, and is known for starring in Hindi films and television shows. The star made her acting debut in the television drama Kasam Se. She played the role of the lead protagonist Bani Dixit Walia.

Prachi Desai made her Bollywood debut in the 2008 musical drama Rock On!! and featured in films such as Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai, Bol Bachchan, I, Me Aur Main, and Rock On 2. Desai starred in a short film titled Carbon in 2017 and then took a four-year acting hiatus.

In 2021, Desai returned to acting with a Zee 5 film Silence…Can You Hear It? Desai was last seen in the Hindi film Forensic, starring Vikrant Massey and Radhika Apte as a forensic specialist and a police officer respectively. She played the role of Dr Ranjana Gupta.

After Desai’s television debut, she only appeared in shows as a contestant, guest star or cameo. It was revealed in the Amazon Prime Meeting that Desai would make her return to television in an upcoming supernatural web series.

Upcoming Prachi Desai Films And TV Shows


Prachi Desai is set to star in Kosha, an upcoming film which is currently in post-production. The urban fantasy film is based on an anime-style comic series written by Abhay Kanwar, one of the producers. Desai will play the role of Sonia Sawant in the film described as a “twisted” retelling of classic fairy tales.

The sons of late filmmaker Raj Kanwar, Abhay and Karan produced the fantasy based on an anime-style storyboard. The film is directed by Amman Advaita and will focus on Desai’s character and her relationship with her younger brother.

Desai’s character Sonia Sawant is a rock band member with a history of alcohol and substance abuse.


Desai is set to make her return to television in Dhootha, a supernatural web series which will mark her Telugu debut. The cast of Dhootha includes Naga Chaitanya. Parvathy Thiruvothu, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and Tharun Bhasckher Dhaassyam.

The announcement for Dhootha was made at the Amazon Prime Video Presents India event hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar.

Vikram K Kumar serves as the show’s director and was a co-writer along with Sripal Reddy, Poorna Prajna, Dondapati Venkatesh, and Naveen George Thomas.
