Actor, Producer and author Twinkle Khanna’s short story Salaam Noni Appa from her book The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad will be adapted into a film announced by the actor on April 26, Tuesday. The book by Khanna is a collection of four stories that are based on Feminism.

Reportedly, the story Salaam Noni Appa is a story based on the relationship between her grandmother and her sister. It revolves around the theme of finding love in old age.

Twinkle Khanna Short Story Film Adaptation

Khanna took to Instagram to share the wonderful news. Sharing a photo of her with the producers she wrote, “Hurrah! Applause Entertainment, Ellipsis Entertainment and Mrs Funnybones Movies collaborate on a movie adapted from my short story 'Salaam Noni Appa'.”

The actor further added, “This movie is truly special because I am working with some incredibly talented friends like Tanuj Garg, Sameer Nair, Atul Kasbekar and it is being directed by leading adman Sonal Dabral.”

She also mentioned in her post, “Salaam Noni Appa is loosely based on my grandmother and her sister. I am fortunate that my Nani got to see it when it was turned into a play by Lillete Dubey and I am certain she would have been chuffed to see it being turned into a movie as well.”

Sameer Nair, one of the producers, said that adapting the delightful story had them feel elated. Nair was quoted saying, “The story defies convention, with Twinkle’s irrepressible wit, and her distinctive gaze on love, life and relationships. Having Sonal make his feature debut with us, along with our partners at Ellipsis, makes this an immensely special film for us.”

The director Sonal Dabral also expressed that he was ecstatic to be a part of the wonderful film which is a progressive sensitive story full of wit and observational humour, Khanna’s hallmark. “I couldn’t have asked for a better debut as a feature film director. I’m looking forward to bringing this story to life in a way that will not only inspire but be loved by all,” Dabral said.

The details regarding the cast, title and shoot schedule are yet to be unveiled. Reportedly, it will be unveiled at a later date.
