There's some good news for the fans of the HBO series The White Lotus as the renewed season 3 after the dramatic ending of Season 2 left its audience in suspense in December 2022. Before season 2 could end, HBO already gave the beloved hit show a green light for its renewal to Season 3.
While initially expected in 2024, the season has been pushed back to 2025 due to production delays caused by the 2023 writer's and actor's strike that halted the show. The exact date is yet to be announced but it is confirmed to be premiering in 2025.
What Is The White Lotus S3 About?
Details about the plot are mostly under wraps, but series creator Mike White has described it as "supersized" speaking to Vanity Fair as he said the third season would be "longer, funnier, and crazier" hinting at a potentially longer season or more complex storyline.
After Season 2 ended, speaking to Variety, White also talked about the theme of Season 3 as he highlighted Season 1 was about money and Season 2 was about sex, hinting Season 3 would be about a satirical and funny look at death while exploring Eastern Religion and spirituality.
There have been rumours that the season might explore themes of wealth disparity and colonialism concerning Thailand's history and tourist industry. However, as White remained tight-lipped about the storyline, it's safe to expect the signature dark humour, social commentary, and underlying fresh murder mystery the show is known for.
Cast Of The White Lotus S3
While many of the cast members will not be making it to season 3, no official announcement for the cast has been made by the production house. However, it has been confirmed that the K-pop global sensation Lisa has joined the cast marking her debut in acting.
Earlier, reports also suggested that Indian actor and superstar Deepika Padukone has been also been approached for a role in the critically acclaimed series, however, no confirmations of the actor joining the cast are yet made. Former One Direction's lead singer Harry Styles who was reportedly approached for a role has denied being part of the series.
The reports also claimed the series will be complying with 13 roles with nine of them from the regular cast.
Additionally, the show will welcome back actor Natasha Rothwell with her role in Season 1 as confirmed by Variety, while the show will feature many new guests.
The current ensemble includes Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Tayme Thapthimthong, Christian Friedel, Julian Kostov, Morgana O’Reilly, Lek Patravadi, Shalini Peiris, Carrie Coon, Scott Glenn, Francesca Corney, Nicholas Duvernay, Arnas Fedaravičius, Natasha Rothwell, Walton Goggins, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aimee Lou Wood, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Sam Nivola.
The White Lotus S3 Is Set In Thailand
The filming of the show is scheduled to commence in February 2024 in Thailand. The last two seasons of the show were shot in Hawaii and Italy. This means the earliest we could see the season would be late 2024, but early 2025 is more realistic based on HBO's statements.
