The Son: Laura Dern Joins Florian Zeller Directed Movie Along With Hugh Jackman

The movie, which is a follow up of the BAFTA-winning and Academy Award-nominated movie The Father, is adapted from Florian Zeller’s acclaimed stage play.

The movie shows the busy life of the lead character Peter, played by Jackman. The character of Emma is his new partner. However, his life gets extremely chaotic when his ex-wife Kate, played by Dern, turns up with their teenage son, Nicholas.

The Plot

The character of the teenager Nicholas is shown to be troubled, distant, and angry and the viewers sense something wrong from the first moment they meet him. Nicholas stays absent from school for months and staying with his mother for a long time, wishes to stay with his father for a change.

Peter gives his everything to be a better father to Nicholas and tries to rebuild his world of happiness. He tries to understand what his son is going through and helps him overcome those.

"The Son is a deeply human story that, I believe, connects us all; I hope audiences will be profoundly moved by this family’s journey. Both Hugh and Laura naturally convey great warmth, compassion, and vulnerability… inviting our audience to embrace and feel every moment," Zeller said.
