Unlike its predecessors, which leaned heavily on horror and comedy, Thama places romance at its core, weaving it seamlessly with the eerie and the fantastical. Scheduled for release this Diwali, the film marks Maddock’s first vampire-infused romance.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar of Munjya fame, the film also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal in prominent roles, with a special appearance by Malaika Arora in a dance sequence.

A Myth Meets Modern Fantasy

Interestingly, Thama was originally titled Vampires of Vijaynagar. Its new title is a nod to Ashwatthama, the immortal warrior from the Mahabharata, hinting at a storyline rich with mythological undertones, vengeance, and some supernatural elements.

The teaser opens with Ayushmann’s character asking: “Will you be able to live without me for 100 years?” To which Rashmika’s character replies: “Not even for a moment.” The film brings together a stunning ensemble cast:

Ayushmann Khurrana as Alok – a historian on a quest to uncover the roots of vampirism in Indian folklore. His journey spans between present-day India and the grandeur of the ancient Vijayanagar kingdom.
