Netflix has confirmed that production for Emily in Paris Season 5 will begin in May 2025, starting in Rome before returning to its signature Paris setting. The streamer also announced the returning cast members and one surprising exit.
While fans speculated about who might leave the show, all three of Emily’s love interests, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), and new Season 4 character Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), will return.
This puts to rest months of uncertainty about Bravo’s future on the show. Franceschini, who played the charming Italian heir romancing Emily in the most recent season, may have been promoted to a series regular, although Netflix hasn’t confirmed this.
Returning with Lily Collins (Emily Cooper) are Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie), Ashley Park (Mindy), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc), and William Abadie (Antoine). Laviscount will also be back full-time as Alfie, despite the character’s past breakup with Emily.
Notably missing from the cast lineup is Camille Razat, who played Emily’s close friend-turned-rival Camille. Her exit follows her dramatic departure in Season 4, where she faked a pregnancy in a final attempt to win back Gabriel. Razat had been part of the series since its debut. Previously, it was revealed that boss-lady Sylvie has a budding romance in the works. The streets of Roma (Rome) have an old-new admirer of her. Uff, too much information? Let's unravel it character by character.
New Beginnings and a Surprising Exit in ‘Emily in Paris’ Season 5
Thalia Besson as Genevieve
Thalia Besson is the daughter of writer, producer and actor Luc Besson. He is well-renowned for his films like Subway, The Big Element, Lucy and more. And now his daughter continues her funky legacy in the show business.
She plays the character of Genevieve. Genevieve is Laurent Grateau's daughter who’s been living in America, and who’s now decided to come to Paris to try to get her first job in fashion.
But Gen is not Sylvie's daughter. Laurent discovers much later in his life that he has a daughter, following which they rekindle their relationship. So as you may suspect, she is the flag-bearer of the chaotic city at the Grateau House.
But, her overstayed welcome is not restricted to Sylvie's home. She lands a job as an assistant at Agence Grateau. Emily does feel a certain degree of rivalry with a fellow American in the office initially but later they warm up to each other. But Gen why are you looking at Gabriel like that? Can this cause some tension? Watch and find out.
Eugenio Franceschini as Marcello
Oh, Marcello was a breath of fresh chivalrous energy this season. Hailing from Rome, where he has a family business, he invites Emily to his city and his home. He is the perfect charming gentleman Emily's story needed.
The actor playing this character is Eugenio Franceschini. He is charming, warm and persistent. Boy drops 10 messages in a row and invites Emily to join him in his home country for a fun vacay together. Girls, to fill you up on a little secret, he even sends Emily the flight tickets! Don't settle for less.
Raoul Bova as Giancarlo
Giancarlo is the new-old love interest of Sylvie. Sylvie confesses to him indirectly that she has a deep and meaningful relationship with the city of Rome. The place keeps calling her back and he seems to be the reason.
Giancarlo flashes a beautiful smile and kisses Sylvie. He plays a glorious filmmaker of Rome.
