Ted Cruz Defends Gina Carano After She Was Fired

Ted Cruz defends Gina Carano: Senator Ted Cruz, took to Twitter to defend actor Gina Carano who was recently fired by Lucasfilms from The Mandalorian after her controversial posts.

Lucasfilms, the producers of Star Wars and The Mandalorian announced that Carano is not employed by them. They added they have no plans to associate with her and called her social media posts "abhorrent and unacceptable". THis was supported by some social media users as they were tweeting using the hashtag #fireginacarano but some were quite offended who started the hashtag #cancelDisneyPlus on Twitter.

Republican Ted Cruz joined the social media outrage and wrote, "Texan Gina Carano broke barriers in the Star Wars universe: not a princess, not a victim, not some emotionally tortured Jedi. She played a woman who kicked a-- & who girls looked up to. She was instrumental in making Star Wars fun again, Of course Disney cancelled her"

Gina Carano created quite a buzz with her Instagram stories where she compared the current pandemic and the need to wear double masks suggested by medical experts to Nazi Germany. She implied that asking people to wear a mask is like asking them to abide by a certain political view. She also said that Nazi soldiers in Germany did not kill jews but instigated the neighbours of Jews to kill them. Read more about the controversy here.
