Tarla Trailer Hints At Legendary Chef's Larger-Than-Life Story

The film showcases the inspiring story of India's renowned chef, food journalist and author Tarla Dalal (played by Huma Qureshi), and how her ambition changed the course of her life.

The much-awaited Tarla trailer is finally here and it's everything we expected, and more. The film's lead Huma Qureshi and the makers shared the trailer treating the audience with a little more to stay hooked for the release.

The film showcases the inspiring story of India's renowned chef, food journalist and author Tarla Dalal (played by Huma Qureshi), and how her ambition changed the course of her life. It's believed that the screenplay will cover Dalal's story from the beginning, how she found her calling in cooking, what inspired her to take this path, and how she faced challenges as a powerful woman in a male-dominated society.

The Tarla Dalal Show and Cook It Up, two well-loved cooking-themed TV programmes were hosted by Tarla Dalal. She co-authored more than 100 recipes with Tarla Dalal and received the Padma Shri in 2007. At the age of 77, she passed away in 2013.

Huma Qureshi took to Instagram to share the teaser and wrote, "It’s here. Life mein kuch karne ki khaas recipe aap bhi note kar lijiye! (Noted down the recipe to do something special in life). Trailer out now!"

Tarla is directed by Piyush Gupta, known for his contribution to films like Chhichhore and Dangal. The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, and Nitesh Tiwari.

This extraordinary life story-based film is all set to premiere on Zee5 on July 7, 2023.

Indian cookbook author, chef, food writer, and host of cookery programmes, Tarla Dalal became the first Indian to win a Padma Shri in the field of culinary expertise in 2007. Every Indian householder still talks about her "desi nuske" (home remedies), which are frequently credited with reviving vegetarian cuisine in India.

Qureshi was last spotted in a special appearance in the much-acclaimed Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Gangubai Kathiawadi in 2022. The film featured Alia Bhatt, Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa, Ajay Devgn and Jim Sarbh in prominent roles. Qureshi also received recognition as one of the women achievers last year and grabbed the 2022 Powerful Woman of the Year award.
