Sooryavanshi Release Date Out: Starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles, Rohit Shetty's film Sooryavanshi is call set for a Diwali release. It will have a theatrical release a day after Diwali on 5th November, Friday.
The film sees Akshay Kumar reprise the role he played in Simmba DCP Veer Sooryavanshi, the chief of the Anti-Terrorism Squad in India. The release of the film has been pushed several times due to cinema halls being shut across the country owing to the coronavirus induced pandemic restrictions.
Sooryavanshi is the fourth Cop film by Shetty starting with Ajay Devgn-starrer Singham,Singham Returns and Simmba, starring Ranveer Singh. Simmba was Sara Ali Khan's second release. Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh will make cameos in Sooryavanshi.
Theatres in Mumbai only got permission to reopen in October. After the announcement came Shetty wrote on Instagram “Thanks to our Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Uddhav Thackeray, theatres in Maharashtra to reopen from 22nd October. And FINALLY!!! we can say, This DIWALI… AA RAHI HAI POLICE…” The advance booking for the film are yet to open.
The film will also have actors Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Niharica Raizada, Vivan Bhatena, Sikandar Kher, Nikitin Dheer and Jaaved Jaaferi. Kaif was last seen in a cameo in the film Angrezi Medium.
While speaking at an event Gulshan Grover told Bollywood Hangama "The film is finally releasing and that too on the day of Diwali. I'm really excited about that. All these heroes in the film Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Ranveer Singh and even heroine Katrina Kaif, all these positive characters - for all of them - the reason or the motive to carry the film forward is me. I'm not the antagonist of the film. As the director of the film Rohit Shetty says that the vision of good and bad has been blurred for this character. What he feels is right might not be good for others. Not good for the people and the police which might take many lives. But, he feels his mission is correct."
