Shikhar Dhawan To Feature In Huma Qureshi, Sonakshi Sinha's Film Double XL

Shikhar Dhawan is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha's upcoming film Double XL. A new still from the film shows Shikhar in a black suit and his trademark haircut, dancing with Huma, who is in a red gown.

Directed by Satramm Ramani and written by Mudassar Aziz, Double XL is billed as a social comedy tackling the issue of body shaming.

Double XL is a slice-of-life comedy-drama that explores the journey of two plus-size women — sports presenter Rajshree Trivedi (Huma Qureshi) from Meerut and fashion designer Saira Khanna (Sonakshi Sinha) from New Delhi — as the two navigate society’s beauty standards.

Dhawan said the film's story made a deep impact on him and he said agreed to do the project. Pinkvilla quoted him as saying, “As an athlete playing for the nation, life is always very hectic. One of my favourite pastimes is to watch good entertaining films. When this opportunity came to me and I heard the story, it made a deep impact on me. This is a lovely message for the whole society and I hope a lot of young girls and boys will keep pursuing their dreams no matter what.”

Qureshi is also a co-producer of the film alongside her brother and actor Saqib Saleem. Qureshi, in an interview with PTI earlier this year, described the film as both important and entertaining. “I believe that social change happens through fun, commercial, and family entertainer films.”

Double XL is produced by T Series, Vipul D Shah, Rajesh Bahl and Ashwin Varde Mudassar Aziz, Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem. Milind Jog is the cinematographer for the film, and the dialogues are penned by Aziz.

It is slated to hit the theatres on November 4, 2022.
