The show follows the life of Bhumika Pardesi (Aaditi Pohankar), a poor woman policeman in the Indian Police Force, in the first season. She is then sent to the Anti-Narcotics Group, which leads her to go undercover as a sex worker in Mumbai's underbelly. Her character, who is on the verge of a divorce from her drunken spouse, has an ailing mother, and a college-bound sister for whom she must take care, is also depicted in the episode.

While the majority of fans praised Aaditi's performance, a few viewers were critical of the show.

There are a few viewers who had opposing observations about the show. One of them shared their review on Twitter and wrote, "#SheSeason2 couldn't finish it after 1.5 episodes. Netflix must work on the content instead of releasing anything for its sake."
