Shanaya Kapoor Dharma debut: She is the latest star kid on the block to soon make her entry into films. Later this year in July, 21-year-old Shanaya Kapoor will begin work on her first Bollywood film under Karan Johar's production house, notable for launching several celebrity children and fresh, young faces.

She is the daughter of actor Sanjay Kapoor and Fabulous Lives star Maheep Kapoor. Johar, who is a family friend, announced Kapoor's debut on social media Monday, lauding her "enthusiasm, perseverance and diligence." He

5 Things To Know About Shanaya Kapoor Dharma Debut

1. In 2020, Karan Johar announced the launch of Dharma Cornerstone Agency (DCA), a talent acquisition and management agency in collaboration with Bunty Sajdeh, with film critic Rajeev Masand as Chief Operating Officer (COO). After inducting young actors like Triptii Dimri and Gurfateh Singh Pirzada, Johar has welcomed Shanaya Kapoor as a "beautiful addition" into the DCA squad.

2. This is not Shanaya's first association with Dharma. She was an assistant director on her cousin Janhvi Kapoor's film Gujan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, which was produced under Johar's banner.

3. In 2019, soon after her Le Bal Paris debut, Shanaya had told news agency IANS that she would love bagging a debut with Johar, who is a family friend. "I don’t think any actor would say no. He is family. He is talented and the most amazing director. I think I would start crying if Karan ever directs me. I would get emotional and just die."

4. In Netflix's Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, Johar made several appearances alongside Shanaya's mother Maheep Kapoor. Among other things, their discussion also touched upon Shanaya's debut in the film industry. Her father Sanjay Kapoor has also mentioned in previous interviews that his daughter has taken training, workshops and acting practice before turning to the industry.

5. Johar has launched several of Shanaya Kapoor's young contemporaries, including BFF Ananya Panday. Other celebrity children like Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, who made their entries into Bollywood with Dharma, have all gone on to become prominent members of the Hindi film fraternity.
