Shabana Azmi-Starrer Halo Release Date In India Announced

The upcoming sci-fi series Halo will premiere on soon on OTT. Halo is based on a popular video game franchise by the same name which is owned by Xbox Game Studios. The series is created by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane.

Halo TV series will feature actors Pablo Schreiber, Jen Taylor, Natascha McElhone, Danny Sapani and also Indian veteran actor Shabana Azmi in prominent roles. The series is produced by Steven Spielberg.

The show's official synopsis mentions that it is set in the 26th century where humanity fights against an alien race called Covenant. Actor Pablo Schreiber will be seen as the Master Chief, Spartan-117, Natascha McElhone as Dr. Halsey, the creator of the Spartan super soldiers and Jen Taylor as Cortana, the most advanced AI in human history.

Indian actor Shabana Azmi will also be seen helming a prominent supporting role in the series as Admiral Parangosky. She took to her social media sharing the big news of her first colour-blind casting saying, "As Admiral Parangosky in HALO- my first colour blind casting! releasing 24th March."

Delighted to have worked with a stellar cast and exploring a whole new genre, Shabana Azmi is eager to see the reception of her newly acquired experience during the making of the show. "Working on this project has been a dream come true. The show deals in Artificial Intelligence, which is a completely new genre for me, hence it gave me the opportunity to learn and evolve," she said.

Azmi has earlier appeared in international projects like Madame Sousatzka, City of Joy and Son of Pink Panther. She will also be seen sharing screen space with Hollywood star, Emma Thompson in filmmaker Shekhar Kapur’s film What’s Love Got To Do With It? It also features Lily James of Baby Driver and Star Trek: Discovery actor Shazad Latif in key roles.

Halo will premiere on Paramount+ in the US and on Voot Select in India with weekly episodes on March 24, 2022. It will follow the events of the timeline previous to Halo Infinite and will also feature Spartan's original enemies Insurrection with mysteries yet to unfold.
