South Korean Band SEVENTEEN Member Wonwoo's Mother Passes Away

SEVENTEEN’s member Wonwoo’s mother passed away on April 6, Wednesday. The band’s agency Pledis Entertainment released a statement on the band’s official Twitter handle explaining that she passed away after an illness.

Seventeen Wonwoo Mother: South Korean boy band SEVENTEEN’s member Wonwoo’s mother passed away on April 6, Wednesday. The band’s agency Pledis Entertainment released a statement on the band’s official Twitter handle explaining that she passed away after an illness.

“Hello, this is Pledis Entertainment. SEVENTEEN member Wonwoo’s mother passed away this morning from an illness. Wonwoo is currently at the funeral hall, and the funeral will be held with family and close friends. We ask for your kind consideration and support so that Wonwoo can have a period of mourning with his family. May she rest in peace,” the statement read.

Wonwoo has a younger brother Jeon Bohyuk. Wonwoo’s bandmate Joshua has often spoken about how his family has taken care of him and that both their mothers are close.  “Our parents are close. My mother and Wonwoo’s mother are very close because my mother is not here. She is in America,” Joshua was quoted saying by a Korean entertainment news site.

The band SEVENTEEN has 13 members: Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, and Dino. The group debuted in 2015. The members are divided into units according to different specializations: Hip-Hop Unit, Vocals and Performance. Wonwoo is a member of the HipHop team.

Wonwoo is featured in multiple music videos including Face, Venus, Wonder Boy, My Copy Cat, etc. Apart from that, he has starred in many other TV shows, including M Countdown, KCON 2018 Japan, and Show! Music Core, etc.

The 13-member band SEVENTEEN was expected to kick off their comeback with their first English single on April 15 which supposedly was a prelude to their stories for their fandom called Carats.

Their agency had announced the same on Weverse, a Korean social media site, that it will begin streaming from 12 am EST, April 15, 2022, on all major streaming platforms. The agency said it is a pre-release of their fourth studio album. Moreover, the band had on April 5 at midnight KST, released the teaser scheduler for the song premiere.

They had recently hosted a fan event 'SEVENTEEN in CARAT LAND' where Wonwoo was spotted as well. The group is also popular for self-producing their music and the fair line distribution in their soundtracks.
