50-year-old Silverman (one of the people accused) ridiculed Hilton for her jail sentence at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, who had been sentenced to 45 days in jail after a judge ruled she violated her probation for a 2006 charge based on driving under influence.

Following Hilton's revelation on Monday's episode of her podcast, Silverman apologised for offending her, nearly 14 years later, saying, "Here I am, 14 years later, telling you, Paris, that I am really sorry."

The heiress recalled "sitting there wanting to die" as everyone around her laughed at Silverman's jokes as she was ready to turn herself into jail after the show. Meanwhile, while hosting the show, the comedian told the audience that the guards were "going to paint the bars to look like penises" to make Paris Hilton more comfortable. Further roasting her arrest, Silverman then said the socialite would "break her teeth on those things."

"The crowd went bananas, and while I was thrilled at the success of my monologue, I remember spotting her in the audience, I really do, and I remember seeing that look on her face and my heart sank," the comedian recalled. "There was a person under there. A couple of days later I wrote her a letter apologizing, felt awful and I never heard back, I certainly wouldn't expect to anyways."

Hilton addressed Silverman's joke

"What Sarah Silverman did was so disgusting and so cruel and mean," Hilton said on her podcast. "I was so shocked and surprised because I'd actually met her a few years before when I was at an event, and she couldn't be nicer. So sweet. I knew I was about to check myself into jail in a couple hours trying to be brave. To sit in the audience with her just literally publicly humiliating me, being so mean, so cruel , I was sitting there wanting to die," the House of Wax actor continued.

Hilton further added, "I was not expecting an apology. I wasn't asking for one, that was just my sister, you know, being very protective and wanting an apology. So, yeah, I was very shocked when I got it," saying that while she never received the letter, but either way, she accepts her apology.
