On January 31, 2025, an FIR was filed at the Itanagar Police Station by Armaan Ram Welly Bakha, a resident of Seppa in East Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh. The FIR accused Jessy of making derogatory comments about the indigenous people of the state, alleging that her words were disrespectful and tarnished the community’s reputation.
The complaint urges authorities to take immediate action to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future, stating, “I humbly request you to take swift action in this matter, so that no one else can make remarks like those of Jessy Nabam.”
Social media erupted in response to the incident, with many viewers condemning the comment. Critics argued that such statements on a national platform perpetuate harmful stereotypes and could incite communal tensions.
