Saira Banu was admitted to Hinduja Hospital in Khar, Mumbai three days ago due to blood pressure related problems. She was shifted to ICU where she is being kept under observation and her condition remains stable as of now.

Faisal Farooqui, a close friend of Kumar and Banu, who had also shared the news of the former's passing on social media last month, said on Thursday, "Saira ji is admitted to the hospital and the doctors have advised a few tests." He further revealed that Banu's doctor suspects that the actor could have an issue in her left ventricle. Keeping that in mind, the doctor has advised Banu to undergo an angiography, however it is not urgent. "All said and done, Saira ji is stable and should be out of the hospital soon," he added.

Farooqui had previously revealed that abundant precautions are being taken for Banu's health, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Saira Banu made her film debut in 1961 opposite Shammi Kapoor in the film Junglee. She went on to star in several successful films through the 60s and 70s such as Jwaar Bhata, Jhuk Gaya Aasman, Padosan, Hera Pheri, Gopi, Ayee Milan Ki Bela, Zameer, Shagird and April Fool.

She married actor Dilip Kumar in the year 1966 at the age of 22. Dilip Kumar was 44 at that time. In the 1980s, Kumar briefly got into a relationship with a Pakistani woman named Asma Rehman, only to call it quits after two years. Reuniting with Banu, Kumar later called his relationship with Rehman a "grievous mistake" on his part.

Banu was desolate when she lost her husband of more than five decades on Jul7, 2021. "God snatched away my reason for living. Without Sahab, I won’t be able to think about anything. Everyone, please pray," she reportedly said when the news of Kumar's passing was broken to her. Read more on that here.
