Producer Rhea Kapoor has taken a firm stand against a trade journalist, accusing them of disseminating "dangerous hate speech" and endorsing violence against her and her team involved in their latest production, Thank You For Coming. Though she did not mention the journalist's name, she accused them of writing "misogynistic comments" and promoting "violent" behaviour towards their team.
In a compelling message, Rhea Kapoor expressed that her women-centric movies often encounter criticism from influential individuals. Nevertheless, despite the obstacles, she remains appreciative of the love and recognition Thank You For Coming is receiving.
Rhea Kapoor Confronts 'Misogynistic Comments' On TYFC, Defends Her Vision
On social media, she stated, "I’ve never read trade websites nor have they ever informed the films I choose to make. However, it has come to my attention that one so-called ‘credible’ trade journalist has been posting dangerous hate speech against me and my co-producers. Admitting that he hasn’t seen the film, he's angered by our message- Women's rejection of shame. Stating that these stories have no place in ‘Hindi cinema’, he openly spews misogynistic rhetoric and encourages violence against us. I was told to pay no attention to the ravings of an unstable individual. So, you can imagine my disappointment when I learned that this person actually has some impact on the way our industry feels. How are we okay with this? Not just okay, we're subscribing to it."
