Squid Game Season 2 release date has been on every search bar on the internet ever since the first season of the Squid game was released. Looks like Squid Game Season 2 has finally gotten the green light from its creators, as Netflix finally confirmed the upcoming season with a teaser.
Netflix has finally broken the silence on the future of Squid Game. Releasing a brief teaser for Squid Game season 2, the post also offered a message from creator, writer, director, and executive producer Hwang Dong-Hyuk. The teaser showcased a huge animatronic doll that featured in the series last season along with the words-“Red light… GREENLIGHT! Squid Game is officially coming back for Season 2!”
The statement from Hwang Dong-Hyuk, creator of the series put out with the teaser, reads- “It took 12 years to bring the first season of ‘Squid Game’ to life last year. But it took 12 days for ‘Squid Game’ to become the most popular Netflix series ever, As the writer, director, and producer of ‘Squid Game,’ a huge shout out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show.” In his statement, he also revealed that the protagonist and the masked antagonist, Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-Jae), and the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) both will be returning to Squid Game season 2.
Teasing more on the storyline the post also read, "The man in the suit with ddakji might be back. You’ll also be introduced to Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-Su. Join us once more for a whole new round.” Back in 2009 creator, Hwang Dong-Hyuk pitched the story as a feature film.
He said that the script was rejected for being too unrealistic, "People were telling me that it's too unrealistic. The project was labeled absurd. A film about debt and poverty leading people to make drastically life-threatening choices during a time when the real world was experiencing a global financial crisis does seem very close to home."
However, he didn't give up on the script and created this show, which went on to become a global phenomenon, soon after its release. Squid Game revolves around a game, that lures in common people that are burdened with debt, with a promise of a huge cash prize upon winning a set of games, well known in South Korea. But it comes with one twist, if you lose, you die. Now the creator and the streaming platform have finally confirmed that season 2 of the series will be coming soon. However, no release date has been announced yet.
