Rasika Duggal Joins Stephen Fry For International Comedy Audio Series The Empire

Rasika Duggal Stephen Fry Connect for Audio Series 'The Empire' for BBC Radio 2.

Mirzapur fame Rasika Duggal will join British veteran star Stephen Fry for an international comedy audio series, named The Empire. The audio series is an upcoming production of BBC Radio 2 and is written by Indian stand-up comedian-screenwriter Anuvab Pal and directed by the award-winning radio comedy producer Ed Morrish.

According to reports, the forthcoming audio series is set in Imperial India, and revolves around the story of a newly appointed district magistrate of Darjeeling and how he goes about his responsibilities with the help - and sometimes hindrance - of his colleagues.

The 32-year old actor who has starred in number of critically acclaimed series such as the Emmy-award winner Delhi Crime to name one, said in a statement that the script of the series "had her in splits" when she read it. "I had come off a three-month-long shoot for an intense drama series and comedy is just what I needed," she further added.

The series will also feature the voices of Doctor Who actor Michelle Gomez and Alexander Owen, actor-writer of Midsomer Murders.

Rasika has reportedly lent her voice for the character of Sapna, a proto-revolutionary, in the audio project. Moreover, she expressed her delight on working with the renowned personalities like Fry, Owen and Gomez. "It's an honour to collaborate with such distinguished actors. Other than The Empire, Rasika will also be seen next in the second season of Delhi Crime and Anshuman Jha's directorial debut Lord Curzon Ki Haveli.
