Ramesh Deo is older than Seema Deo by a couple of years. He hails from a Rajput Sisodia family from Kolhapur and began his acting career in Marathi films in the early 1950s. He started out with small roles and then went on to play the most pivotal roles, mainly negative.

Meanwhile, Seema, whose real name is Nalini Saraf, made her debut as a leading lady with the movie Jagachya Pathivar by Raja Paranjpe in 1960. This film also featured Ramesh and went on to be a hit.

Subsequently, the two appeared together in more films, including Vardakshina in 1962, in which Seema was cast opposite Ramesh. In the film, Ramesh's character falls for Seema's while trying to get her married to someone else. The film also had a strong message against dowry.
