Netflix's Bridgerton has had two world popular seasons so far and the third one is under production and may release in 2023. Meanwhile, the makers have announced the release date of the prequel of the historical romance series, Queen Charlotte.

Produced by Shondaland and based on novel series by Julia Quinn, Bridgerton is a romance drama series set in the Regency Era and has released two seasons on Netflix that were massive hits. The makers of the series earlier announced that the show will be having a prequel titled Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.

Those who are familiar with the plot of the show will remember Queen Charlotte as the ruler of Great Britain And Ireland. Her character is played by Golda Rosheuvel in the Bridgerton series and this prequel spin-off will feature her younger days.

The spin-off will feature the younger days of Queen Charlotte, her meeting with King George, their marriage and relationship and her rise to power and prominence. Known for being the longest-serving queen consort of Britain, the ">teaser of the show that was released recently showed her garden meeting with King George, her soon-to-be-husband and her initial resistance to the relationship. However, as she understands the need of the nation and herself, she learns more about her worth, influence and role in ruling the kingdom.

The show features India Amarteifio as young Queen Charlotte and Corey Mylchreest as young Kind George along with actors Adjoa Andoh, Ruth Gemmell, Hugh Sachs and Cyril Nri reprising their roles from Bridgerton. The other cast members of the spin-off include Michelle Fairley, Richard Cunnigham, Tunji Kasim, Katie Brayben and Rob Maloney.

The show is directed by Tom Verica while Shonda Rhimes is the producer and writer. It was filmed under the working title Jewels and the filming wrapped up in August 2022. The show will consist of six episodes and will release on Netflix on May 4, 2023.
