Ponniyin Selvan I Review, Ponniyin Selvan OTT Release
Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1's teaser, which gave the world a sense of the director's most ambitious film yet, was unveiled on Friday. This movie is said to be unique since it is Ratnam's first attempt to depict a kings and queens era. But we wonder where the critics have gone.

Even if the music is good, cinematography, graphics and acting contributed a great deal to making the teaser seem ridiculous. While some audiences may scream and say “We are already sold,” others have already started to evoke exhaustion and existential crisis. The only outlet was to generate memes from the teaser.

Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 Teaser

While a man screams in order to communicate his thirst for war, wine and blood, Aishwarya’s half-a-second appearance in the teaser conveyed a thousand words - just like a photograph, but with worse expressions. It is alright that there are only panoramic shots in the teaser but who thought that they would be so cringe-worthy and basic? Do we not have enough collision of troops, enough focus and cuts to pulling out of forbidden swords, already?

The epic historical novel by author Kalki Krishnamurthy served as the inspiration but was beggarly visualised for the film. Arulmozhi Varman, who later rose to power as Rajaraja Chola I, is the subject of the five-volume novel Ponniyin Selvan

Reportedly, following a health concern brought on by one of the lead actors, Vikram's hospitalisation, a teaser launch ceremony for Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 was organised in Chennai. The actor, who plays one of the film's leads, was brought to the hospital after complaining of chest pain. Vikram is "clinically stable," according to a hospital statement that was released amid reports of a heart attack, and he will be "discharged soon."
