'Ponniyin Selvan I' OTT Release Date Revealed: Know More Here

Blockbuster Ponniyin Selvan was released on September 30 and will be available on over-the-top (OTT) streaming services soon.

The period drama Ponniyin Selvan stars Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Karthi, and Sobhita Dhulipala. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the Tamil film has an upcoming sequel which is expected to release in theatres in a few months.

The film is based on a historical fiction novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy and dramatises the story of Arulmozhi Varman, who later became the Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I. It is based on the 10th century Chola period and the fights within the ruling clan. The role played by politics, spies of the empire, and military leaders is also explored in the film.

Ponniyin Selvan released pan-Indian and has an international audience. It is currently in high demand in Toronto, Canada and is still playing there.

The film grossed over 500 crore rupees and became the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2022, the 3rd highest grossing Indian film of 2022, the 4th highest grossing Tamil film of all time, and the 15th highest grossing Indian film of all time.

Ponniyin Selvan received critical acclaim from film critics and audiences alike. Critics praised the performances, soundtrack, visuals, and direction of the film.

Ponniyin Selvan OTT Release

Ponniyin Selvan broke several box office records and will release on the OTT streaming platform Amazon Prime Video.

Ponniyin Selvan is currently available for rent on the OTT platform under the early access scheme. Audiences can rent the film for 199 rupees. Subscribers and non-subscribers can rent the film. Ponniyin Selvan will also be available at no additional cost to subscribers from November 4.

The OTT platform Amazon Prime Video purchased the digital streaming rights for the film for 125 crore rupees. Meanwhile, the satellite rights were sold to Sun TV.

On November 4, Ponniyin Selvan will release on Amazon Prime Video in Tamil and dubbed versions in Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu.
