The three Indian films were included in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' shortlist in December 2022. All this will be celebrated during Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony. In India, the academy awards will broadcast on 13 March at 5:30 am. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel will returns to host the Oscars for a third time.

Look at these Indian nominations below.

Indian film RRR movie, the popular song 'Naatu Naatu' is nominated in the Best Original Song category and will be performed at the ceremony. American actor and dancer Lauren Gottlieb will be performing on Naatu Naatu at the Oscars.

The dance number Naatu Naatu from the popular Tamil film RRR, a historical action thriller directed by SS Rajamouli, also won a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Music earlier this year.

All That Breathes, a documentary by Shaunak Sen, is up for the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature Film. It features Nadeem and Sand, two brothers, who run a temporary avian hospital out of Delhi's basement.

In the contention is also the documentary film Elephant Whisperers directed by Karriki Gonsalves. It depicts the strong friendship that forms between an orphaned elephant calf and a couple who are its mahout and caregiver. Guneet Monga produced this documentary.

Before the ceremony, Priyanka Chopra and writer-producer Mindy Kaling hosted a party in Los Angeles, California, honouring South Asian candidates for the Oscars in 2023. Like she does each year, the actress hosted a banquet in honour of the candidates as the Academy Awards extended the diversity of the field at the yearly Hollywood awards show. In the 95th Academy Awards' best actress category, there are a lot of great contenders, from Michelle Yeoh's potential to break history to Andrea Riseborough's surprise candidature.

Let's look at the opponents:

Michelle Yeoh, the first Asian woman to do so, was honoured with the SAG lead actress in a film award for her work in Everything Everywhere All At Once. This is the most nominated film with 11 nominations.

Cate Blanchett, who won three prizes for Tár (the BAFTA, Critics' Choice, and Globes), is the only choice to honour Todd Field's psychological thriller. If she wins, she will join an exclusive group of performers who have won three or more statuettes.

For her passionate depiction of the legendary Marilyn Monroe in Netflix's Blonde, Ana De Armas deserves all accolades. Despite the film receiving many unfavourable reviews, the actress' dedication to her performance won over viewers and resulted in one of Netflix's nominations.

Andrea Riseborough completes the cast with her part in the little-known indie movie To Leslie, which has recently received recognition. Michelle Williams, a favourite for the Oscars, has gotten another nod for her portrayal of Steven Spielberg's mother in the loosely autobiographical movie The Fabelmans.
