On Twitter, the official account of the RRR movie expressed their gratitude as they took to Twitter to post their reaction, “WE CREATED HISTORY!! Proud and privileged to share that #Naatu Naatu has been nominated for Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards. #Oscars #RRRMovie”.

Have a look at these Oscar Nominations from India 2023!

Meanwhile, the film had been subjected to nominated in multiple categories like Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. However, despite the “over the top” Oscar campaigns run by the film for this year’s Academy Awards, it didn’t make it to India’s pick for Oscars. But the Golden Globe Award-winning song Naatu Naatu has already been declared as one of the nominations in the Best Original Song Category which in itself is a eureka moment for India, let alone the film industry.

Previously, in the same category, at the 81st Academy Awards, Gulzar and A.R Rahman received an Oscar for Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire. In addition to this, India has two more feathers to its cap with the two additional nominations of the two documentaries All that Breathes and The Elephant Whisperers which emerged to be nominated under the categories of Best Documentary Feature Film and Best Documentary Short Film respectively.

While Pan Nalin’s Gujarati film Chhello Show was short-listed in the Best International Film Category but it missed an inch from being nominated. As the Academy Awards are set to feature live on the 13th of March this year, it will indeed be an anticipated moment for India to watch its home-grown productions rule the news globally. Historically, Mehboob Khan’s Mother India was India’s first submission at the Academy Awards for the Best Internal Feature Film category.
