Bollywood Musicians To Pay Tribute To Lata Mangeshkar With 'Naam Reh Jaayega' Series

Late singing sensation Lata Mangeshkar, known as the ‘Nightingale of India’ defined the music of Hindi cinema for decades with thousands of songs under her name. Mangeshkar passed away on February 6 and her demise left the entire nation in a state of grief. Even after her passing, the songs she vocalised have held a special place in all our hearts.

Lata Mangeshkar was a gifted singer who began recording songs when she was 13. Hailing from a family of musicians and artists, she had no dearth of talent. In her career spanning seven decades, Mangeshkar mesmerised everyone with her voice by singing songs in various languages.  The Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushana, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient could do it all—from bhajans to patriotic songs to romantic tracks.

Naam Reh Jaayega: Lata Mangeshkar Tribute

To celebrate the life of Lata Mangeshkar’s unparalleled legacy, the top 18 musicians of India will honour the legendary singer in a series named Naam Reh Jaayega series which will premiere on May 1.

The list of singers participating in the grand tribute to Lata Mangeshkar are—Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Shankar Mahadevan, Nitin Mukesh, Neeti Mohan, Alka Yagnik, Sadhana Sargam, Pyarelal, Udit Narayan, Shaan, Kumar Sanu, Amit Kumar, Jatin Pandit, Javed Ali, Aishwarya Majumdar, Sneha Pant, Palak Muchhal and Anwesha.

The musicians will be singing iconic songs of the late singer on stage in the eight-episode series. Along with performing the songs, the musicians will also share anecdotes from their meetings and interactions with her and the inspiration behind the songs.

Vocalist Shaan spoke about the special tribute with the media and expressed happiness over being a part of this tribute. He was quoted by a publication, “It’s an absolute honour to be part of this grand tribute. Lata Ji is not just someone I respect, admire and love but also someone who every Indian is deeply connected to. I consider this among the best moments of my life and I feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to pay tribute to the country’s greatest singer on a grand platform like this.”
