To tell a story over a long duration of time may be relatively easier than having to do everything with limited time. There are show-makers out there who have impressed the audience and critics with their craft of telling stories with great depth in a shorter time. The streaming services have certain mini-series in their libraries which are short, crisp and equally interesting to keep their viewers occupied with shorter content.

Maid

2021 American drama series Maid is a ten-part series created by Molly Smith Metzler, based on Stephanie Land's memoir Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother's Will to Survive. The story revolves around a young single mother who escapes an abusive relationship and works as a cleaning lady to provide for her daughter. The mini-series stars Margaret Qualley, Nick Robinson, Anika Noni Rose, Tracy Vilar, Billy Burke and Andie MacDowell in the lead roles.

The eight-part mini-series Unbelievable is a true-crime drama that follows a series of teen rapes as two female detectives investigate to find the truth behind such heinous acts. The true-crime drama series Unbelievable is based on a 2015 news article written by T. Christian Miller and Ken Armstrong. The series has amassed critical acclaim for its dramatisation of the 2008-2011 Washington and Colorado rape events. The series cast include actors Toni Collette, Merritt Wever, and Kaitlyn Dever in the lead.

Chernobyl

2019 drama-tragedy series Chernobyl is based on the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster in the Soviet Union. Chernobyl mini-series is based on Belarusian Nobel Laureate Svetlana Alexievich's book Voices from Chernobyl which documented the real-life tragedies during the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The five-part series is directed by Johan Renck and written by Craig Mazin. The series follows the events which led to the nuclear disaster as well as the attempts made to clean it up.

Mrs America

The historical mini-drama series Mrs America follows the story of Phylis Schlafly, a conservative activist, who opposes the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment in America. The series is created by Dahvi Waller and helmed by FX. The nine-part series stars an ensemble cast of  Cate Blanchett, Rose Byrne, Uzo Aduba, Elizabeth Banks, Margo Martindale, John Slattery, Tracey Ullman, and Sarah Paulson.

The Night Of

Based on the first season of the 2008 British series Criminal Justice, The Night Of is a crime mini-drama series directed by Steven Zaillian and James Marsh. The crime mini-series received 13 Emmy nominations, out of which it won five including the  Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series won by actor Riz Ahmed. The plot features a Pakistani-American college student Naz who becomes the prime suspect of murder however, he has no memory of the incident.
