Her father Thomas Markle has now spoken about the interview and rubbished the racism allegation by calling it "just a dumb question from somebody".

During an interview with Good Morning Britain, 76-year-old Thomas Markle said, "I'm guessing and hoping it's just a dumb question from somebody. It could be that simple, that someone has asked a stupid question rather than being a total racist."

Thomas said that the allegation should be investigated but he said that it could just be a "stupid question from somebody". He criticised Prince Harry and Meghan's interview being broadcasted while the Queen's husband Prince Philip is admitted to hospital. He said that the couple "went way over the top with it" and that the stories they shared with Oprah should have waited. He said, "Considering the Queen's age and Philip's age, they certainly should have waited or tried to wait."

Thomas Markle has not been in contact with his daughter and Duchess of Sussex in the past years and has never met Prince Harry and their son. He was accused of staging paparazzi photographs before Meghan and Harry's wedding and has expressed his regret over it. He was quoted saying, "I wish I hadn't done the whole thing."

He continued and presented "the other side of the coin", "No one took any time to protect any member of our family. We were attacked by the press every day," he said.

Thomas added, "Nobody was there to care for us, nobody looked after us."

He was also asked about what Meghan shared about having suicidal thoughts during her time in the UK and said, "I love my daughter very much. Had I known she was having psychological problems, I would have been there for her."

However, he claimed that Meghan Markle has "pretty much ghosted all of her family on her mother's side and my side" and that " she really had no-one to reach out to." Read about the major revelations in the interview here.
